The Struggles of a 2nd Generation Korean American

Extortion.  Theft.  Lawsuits.  Even a proposition from a drug lord.  These are all the incredible but true stories from Patrick Kim, a second generation Korean American and former missionary who inherited his father's grocery distribution company.  He shares with Kwon Cho the hard lessons he's learned about faith, life, and what it means to be a Christian in a dog-eat-dog environment.

A Chaplain at the Frontlines

Captain Tim Ryu is a chaplain at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C.-- one of the preeminent hospitals that treat our nation's injured soldiers.  Before that, he served as a chaplain on the frontlines in Iraq, giving spiritual advice and counsel to soldiers in a stressful and deadly environment.  In a touching interview, Captain Ryu sits down with Kwon Cho to talk about his unique experiences as both a soldier and servant of God.

Giving the Invisible People a Voice

Mark Horvath was a TV executive before alcoholism cost him everything.  He ended up homeless on the streets of LA, but thanks to a local church, he rebuilt his life.  The economic downturn, however, put his home into foreclosure and Mark found himself homeless once more.  He is now a tireless advocate for America's homeless, traveling all over the country to capture the stories of people who would otherwise be "invisible."  Mark shares his incredible testimony on Upper Room.  He says it is the church's responsibility to care for the poor and gives practical ways in which we can help.

Kollabowlation 2

On December 1 7, 2009. Kollaboration.org hosted another bowling event, Kollabowlation.

  Total five organization got together at Shatto 39 Lanes. Kollaboration, KACMedia, APEX, FRA, and Ktown213. 

After two rounds of bowling, Kollaboration (last kollabowlation's champion) protected their title by beating APEX on the final round.

From Prostitution To Ministry, Part 1

In Part 1 of her interview on "Upper Room," Laurie Ishii shares how her heroin addiction led to prostitution and numerous suicide attempts.  She hit rock bottom when she found herself homeless on LA's Skid Row.  That's when she heard God say, "you will die out here anonymously as a junkie if you don't turn around and serve Me."   Her road to recovery and transformation is nothing short of a miracle.  Now Laurie and her husband, Daryl Bargy, run After Hours Ministry to reach out to pimps and prostitutes all over Southern California.

An Alarming Epidemic: Human Trafficking Part 1

Prostitution, pornography, and working in strip clubs or massage parlors are all considered to be different forms of sex trafficking.  The statistics are staggering:  80% of victims are women, 50% are children (average age: 14).  Victims face drugging, rape, forced abortions and sex up to 20 times a day.  The consequences to their minds, bodies and spirits are dire-- yet sex trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the world.  In Part 1, Charity Marquis from NightLight USA and Sharon Ngai from Strike LA shed more light into this disturbing epidemic.
