going across the worldPosted by Eray Kim in Untagged |
Missions:
I think missions is awesome. Going across the world to teach english, spread the gospel, make new friends, etc. I think the word missions is not appropriate for this sort of thing... When i hear missions, i see spies, black clothing, cool gadgets, tom cruise. As Chrsitian in America, it's hard to not be so self absorbed.
Going on missions, it's as if we're going out there to 'save' these uneducated people, or i don't know but 'going on missions' feels very we're going there to help them. Christians are called to make disciples of all nations, and U.S. falls under that category 'all nations'. I think we 'go on missions' really for ourselves. For American Christians to take a break from our mission. How tiring is it to be a christian in LA, where life is repetitive, half of or more or all of our friends drink and smoke, party, self absorbed, loves mtv, idolize famous people, clothes, etc. etc. the list goes on and amongst all of this madness, we're called to serve wholly to God. Holy. pure. How hard is this? if you're like me or the christians I know, this is so hard. This 'religion' is also not a ritual, we're taught that it is a relationship and I believe it, but to vitalize this relationship we must pray and read the word, this alone is hard. It's hard to do everyday for me.but during "missions", I can do this everyday. I can read and pray, worship God everyday. I don't have any burdens, nothing to worry about except spread the Gospel in anway i can AND it's overseas! people go overseas for vacations! even though it's usually hawaii but who doesn't love learning and experiencing new culture?! And don't almost everbody come back from a mission with a clear thought of what their mission is where they live? don't lives change? etc.
missions...
i dont know. maybe we should call it, chrsitian rejuvination time. or happy hour. or mission break. i dont know.
not everything I say is fully true. going on 'missions' is not just fun and easy... there actually alot of spiritual hardships along with physical illness etc. 'missions' is hard but overall, the outcome is awesome!
if you disagree or have an opinion or you've been on missions. i would like to know.
leave me a comment about it. ok?
