My First 5K Marathon

Posted by Judy Wang in Untagged

To be honest, the P90X craze and going extreme with burning off the fat (emphasis on BURN with a capital “B”…ouch!) kinda scares me. So instead, I’ve decided to take a much gentler route and build up my endurance as my personal challenge.

On Sunday, May 16th at 7:30am, I will be running my first 5k marathon. Ever. I'm quite excited at the idea. =)

This event is called The Santa Monica Classic, and it is a Nike 5K/10K run held in Santa Monica to benefit Heal the Bay. The best part is getting to run a lovely point-to-point course along the coast of Santa Monica (gotta love them beaches and sea-salt breezes!), and then, finishing at the Santa Monica Pier.

Since March, I’ve been consistent about getting my butt to the gym about 2-3x/week and following a plan that’s similar to the training program they have on their website.

I started with 2k in March and added the distance incrementally. Currently, I can run 5k in about 46 minutes. Not impressive, but coming from one who’s been working a sedentary job for the past 3 years, I’d say that’s not bad!

My goal is to continue jogging, even after the fitness challenge is over, and eventually get that time down to 40 minutes by this summer. Consistency is the key here.

Oh, Jessica Alba, just you wait and see. I will have that killer body one day!

Hey Judy! I think the 5k run will be fun! I did the Nike 10k at the end of last year. It was a rush! It started at midnight into the streets of the downtown area. I would totally do it again. Good luck!!

Buildings are not cheap and not every person can buy it. But, business loans are invented to aid different people in such situations.
