Tips for Romance Impaired Guys
Written by Clarissa Wei

ImageFebruary 13th.  Lovestruck but completely out of ideas? Make this Valentine’s Day special and spice up your regular routine of flowers and dinner. Be sure to include the element of surprise no matter what you do. Here are some tips to truly wow your valentine:

1. A candlelight dinner under the stars

Make plans for the evening but don’t tell her where. Surprise her by taking her to a secluded place away from the city. Ideally this would be on a clear day so that the stars are visible.  Set up a romantic candlelight dinner (be sure to bring some flashlights) complete with music in the background. Bring a heart shaped pizza if you’re daring.

Disclaimer: Make sure she’s dressed in comfortable clothes for the occasion. Wearing a dress and sitting on the ground is not an ideal date, no matter how beautiful the stars are.

2. The ultimate present

Do not ask “What do you want for Valentine’s Day?” Surprise her. Avoid the cheap looking stuffed animals at your local convenient store. You can never go wrong with something from Tiffany’s or if you’re more spending conscious, create a sentimental scrapbook.

Image3. Treasure hunt

Make a treasure hunt for her. Let each clue be a rose with a note attached to it. Lead her to a romantic location with you standing there with a bouquet of roses.

4. Classic date + Glamour

Take the classic date and glamorize it.
Rent a limousine, go to a five-star restaurant and finish the evening off with a midnight stroll on the beach. You can’t go wrong with this.

5. Song

If you play the guitar or the piano, make a song for her.
Disclaimer: Unless your valentine has a great sense of humor, do this only if you’re good at music and singing. A sour song is not only awkward, but extremely painful to hear

6. Flower Power

Spice up your flowers. Some flower shops sell roses adorned with glitter. If your date has a favorite flower, get her that instead.

Lastly, use your common sense. If you’re still struggling, pick up a romance novel like Twilight, a chick flick like Music&Lyrics, or ask a girl friend to recommend you a Korean drama. The guys in these are perfect Valentine day role models. February 13th is the only day of the year you can be cheesy and get away with it. Take advantage of it.
