Whenever I can do two or more things at the same time, I usually try to do just that. Here is some mother-daughter bonding time (family time!) while hiking towards Sturtevant Falls near Arcadia, CA (exercise!).

April 23 – April 29
Here are your top 5 interesting, must-know news articles from the past week. Enjoy!
"What is God’s purpose for us while we live on this earth? That’s the question that many believers will have a difficult time to have answered. Even when assurance comes, the struggle against sin makes it seemingly nearly impossible to progress. The Millennials understand this too readily."
Wow sorry for the lag! I’ve been so busy working out I forgot to blog about it haha!
Anyway, here is my account so far…
March
I’ve been fairly good about keeping up with my workout regiment, just a few push-ups and sit-ups in the morning is all, but mainly because I did not want to just jump back into my usual workout sessions…it’sbeen just too long and I knew I was not going to be able to keep up with myself.
Starting off slowly was a good idea, got me motivated and even excited about the whole ordeal.
April
Diet is an important part of health and exercise, but it is also the most difficult; I simply just love food and everything that comes with it - calories, carbs, fats, the more the tastier, right?
Since I absolutely cannot change my diet, I decided to step up my game and just workout even more, this way I get the best of both world. I brought in a balance ball to sit on while I work and a resistance band to workout whenever I get the chance. I have also gotten myself to play basketball and baseball once a week along with going back to the pool to swim a few laps during the mornings.
I did not just stop here, I decided that I was ready to get back to my old workout regiment…P90X! O how I hate listening to Tony Horton but I do love the workouts.
My body is always sore, my abs feel like they are about to rip open any minute, but hey, I’m going to win this thing!
Until next time, peace out!

"What can so easily develop into comfort and tradition, can also become the motivation for change. Sometimes it comes from the inside (those who once stood firmly at their post), but other times, it comes from the opposing side. And while some have a change of heart, does this mean that God’s plan fell through?"
When it comes to nutrition, I've been largely influenced by a book called The New Millennium Diet Revolution by Keith Deorio. It's a diet that combines ancient and modern dietary practices/theories -- such as, individual blood types, macronutrient balance, yin/yang balance, and avoidance of food toxins -- into one synergistic approach.
For those that are interested, I found a website online that introduces these concepts. Since I'm blood type A, here's something on me:
While I'm not a huge fan of crazy diets and fads because I believe health and nutrition is a lifestyle, I've noticed over the years that I do indeed respond differently to various foods. For example, according to my blood type, I don't respond well to cabbage, and what do you know? I always feel bloated and gassy after I eat cabbage.
What this means is that there are some foods I eat more of, and others that I try to avoid, if possible. (Not always easy since I have my guilty pleasures!)
Today, I made a smoothie according to my blood type. I love a good smoothie whenever I want something light, a meal replacement or a protein boost after a good workout. (Or, all of the above!)
The recipe was quite simple. Here's what you need:
1/2 red apple (cut into cubes)
1 kiwi (peel skin)
2 handfuls of spinach (washed)
soy milk (refrigerated, add to desired thickness)
protein powder
green tea powder
OPC powder
Combine all the ingredients in a blender until smooth, and voila! Smoothie. I affectionately christened it "The Green Drink." Like the picture? Yum, it was delicious! =)
Maybe next time, I'll make "The White Drink" for you guys! =)
Getting Fit After A Long Hiatus

I used to love working out. I'd be at the gym six days a week and even looked into becoming a certified fitness instructor! It helped that my gym was literally across the street from work. Convenience and proximity made all the difference. But then life happened. First, they changed my work schedule to 4 am. I did that shift for a year and felt like a zombie. It made working out very difficult. Then I was diagnosed with two bulging discs in my neck. That pretty much ended my physically active lifestyle.
Four years later, I tried getting back into shape. It was SUCH a mental challenge! I even hired a trainer, thinking it would force me to get focused and motivated. WRONG!
But now I'm back in the gym at least three to four times a week. The KAC Media Fitness Challenge has actually inspired me to get back in shape. It also helps that a new gym opened right near my house. I'm a lazy gal...I dislike driving far just to go work out.
My favorite thing to do is resistance training. There's something very satisfying about throwing weights around...even if they're just five and ten pound dumbbells. LOL
I also like taking the group exercise classes that the gym offers, such as cardio kickboxing and boot camp. But once in a while I want to be outdoors. I'll go walk around the Rose Bowl, run at a nearby high school track, or hike at Runyon Canyon. My workout partners are usually my mom, who's almost in her 60's and my fat chihuahua, Twinkie. They force me to be active when I don't feel like it, because I know they need to exercise just as much as I do.
I mostly listen to Christian music, but when I work out, I need something with heavy beats. You'll probably laugh at my workout music, so I won't mention the songs. Haha
Now all I need to do is start eating healthier. That's why instead of buying milk chocolate, I gotone that's 85% dark. ;)
