Here are the last pointers for you to avoid the freshmen 15.
Be active! - Take advantage of your recreation center. After all, you paid for it! I am amazed when I hear about some people who have never stepped foot in their school’s recreation center. The gym is not your thing? Understandable. Try joining an intramural team or take some group fitness classes. It’s a lot of fun. There is music blasting, an instructor to lead and motivate you, and other people in class training their tails off just like you.
Cardio, cardio, cardio - This is the most important form of exercise. It will keep your resting heart rate down and you’ll definitely burn calories. Afterwards, you’ll feel great! In my case, I used to dislike running, but I forced myself to do it since my freshmen year, and then I became addicted (You can find out more about my fitness “journey” in college on my website posted below). Can’t stand running or have bad knees? You can try using the elliptical. Take a spinning class, boxing class, swim, or choose something else that you are interested in. Remember: there’s always something to do as a form of cardio. No excuses!
You should be engaging in about 20-30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise 3-5 times a week.
Put down the soda and drink the good old H20- Water is wonderful, and it can decrease hunger pangs. As for the soda and alcohol, moderation is fine, but do your best to limit it as much as you can. Remember, they’re empty calories.
Decrease your intake of sugars and fats- Sounds simple, yet it can be difficult to execute but once you do it, it will help you trim down tremendously.
Well, I hope this helps
you out and inspires you to change your lifestyle. I’ve
mentioned a lot, but I’ll break it down for you: Eat well and
in moderation and also be active. Don’t think of it as a diet,
but rather a lifestyle change. And once you’re able to maintain
this, you’re freshmen 15 will most likely change to a freshmen
-5. That’s how it was for me.
