On the evening of July 29th, Myron Kim, screenwriter of films The Motel Room, Shotgun, The Debt, and The Cure, came and graced us all with his presence!
After some of us met Myron at the 3rd Talent One Media Film Festival TOM and kept in touch after the event, despite his full schedule Myron graciously offered to hold a Screenwriting 101 and Final Draft Workshop for our interns. (Final Draft is the industry standard for Film and TV Screenwriting)
This was huge for us as 95% of us had not ever written a script before.
As the industry standard, "Final Draft" slowly
became a part of our vocabulary and that evening we sat eagerly and
listened as Myron genuinely, creatively, and enthusiastically put this
tool into our hands so we could begin venturing out into our own
screenwriting adventures!
It
was easy as pie to be engaged since we could tell Myron was in love
with what he was teaching us! His analogies and examples were such
that we could nod our heads and quickly grasp what he was explaining.
Myron was able to break down concepts and formats to us in such a way
that even with zero background we could pick it up and understand. Not
only did we understand, we also had a hands-on opportunity to practice
writing an excerpt from a feature film script using Final Draft on our
laptops. This really gave us a sense of using Final Draft and helped
break the screenwriting ice for us even more!

Thank you so much Myron! We are indebted to you for sharing your
wealth of knowledge and experience with us. Thanks for being our
mentor in screenwriting and we are looking forward to seeing your next
script on the big screen once again!
Stay
tuned! Myron's Screenwriting 101 Workshop will be viewable on
