Meet Susan Yu—KAC Media’s Valentines Day contest winner. Getting thousands of votes and hits to her original song on KAC Media’s website, Susan is no “newbie” to the YouTube world. She has over a hundred covers on praise songs from artists ranging from Brooke Fraser to Hillsong to Chris Tomlin. Beginning with only a few songs, by request, she added more to her YouTube account. What her viewers may not know, though, is that she also writes her own music. The song she won the contest with, gave listeners a taste to what will come from Susan in the near future as she considers putting out an album, whose songs are in the works (just not yet on YouTube due to copyright concerns).

Susan began singing for the Korean ministry at her church (Mission Community Church in Anaheim). She felt that God was calling her to be a worship leader. One of her goals is to use praise ministry overseas in Africa, specifically Rwanda. Brooke Fraser definitely comes to mind when one thinks of praise and Africa. And in fact, Susan says that she is inspired by Brooke Fraser’s music and ability to do both praise and mainstream Christian music. When asked what her plans were in terms of a potential music career, she responded with saying “I’m taking it one step at a time… wherever God leads me.”
