KCCD, Korean Churches for Community Development, was established in March 2001 as a nonprofit organization to champion causes and issues directly pertaining to the Korean community in the Los Angeles areas. Its founder is Hyepin Im - Masters of Divinity, Masters of Business Administration, CPA.
After an initial agreement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to collaborate on a conference called "Towards Greater Service Beyond the Walls" in May 2001,
KCCD began and the event's success, with approximately 350 attendees, started a long stream of successes until this day.
KCCD has hosted and sponsored dozens of additional events, workshops, and trainings, sponsored numerous interns, partnered with organizations, given speeches at breakfasts, seminars, and conferences, been invited to share their cause through various forms of media, received numerous awards and grants totaling in the millions to support their cause.
KCCD holds annual events that provide information and empowerment for the Korean community and beyond the Korean community in the areas of home ownership, youth at-risk, healthy marriages, and continually conducts research projects to help shape and reinvent policy for community and city development at various levels.
KCCD's partnerships include the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, World Vision, USC School of Public Planning and Policy for Korean Church Community Research, U.S. Department of Labor, Asian American Job Training Center & Los Angeles City College, and most recently Freddie Mac in CreditSmart Asian - National Financial Literacy Initiative.
