Singing Hymns of Praise...Posted by Sue in Untagged |
With all the many many verses in the bible that we have come across, of all the ones that surround music, and praise, and thanksgiving, and how our laments, and joys, sorrows and tears, all ascribe to the voice of carrying our hearts to the Father, there was one that truly truly stood out to me.
Being a avid music lover, I find little things here and there, snippets of wise and curious sayings of respectable people, but nothing that was said on earth until now, was more profound (well, maybe other verses in the bible too) than the verse I found a few weeks ago.
Matthew 26:30 & Mark 14:26 are exactly the same. nothing added, nothing taken away.
When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
What is the significance of that? Can you imagine? If Music was just for the pure pleasure and enjoyment of pagan folk, and religious folk alike, along with the purpose of just relishing in the moment for a time of doing something extra curricular or two, to what gravity of importance do these verses hold weight?
Here is my take on this:
Before Jesus was going out to the Mount of Olives, before he knew what horrors and hardships, and trials he was to endure, probably already knowing what was ahead, knowing that "the cup he really wished he did not have to have", even before all that, during the moment of in between, Jesus, the Son of God, who is God, with his disciples, side by side, sung a hymn. Praise coming out of a man, who welcomed the anguish, the horrible, unbearable pain, torment, heartache, and all that his sacrifice defined, actually put these words into motion.
Could he have thought this....Even though I know what is unimaginable, even though I know I can change it all, even though I know I could do whatever it took to completely change this extraordinary situation a zillion fold, I am going to praise the Father and sing to him a song.
So then, how shall our lives compare, if indeed when we think our hardships, and trials we face seems so overwhelmingly impossible? Could we in turn, reflect the same image Christ portrayed, even as he was experiencing the moments of the "in between"?
Be encouraged beloved, and know, Christ has overcome this world.
We are more than conquerors!
I just thought to share this small tidbit with you all today.
I have been a little preoccupied, but I promise, more to come.
please remember to pray over your families, church family, blood family, friends, neighbors, and even that friend from work, or school who you pass in passing, though it be a one liner, your heart is always bare before the Lord. =)
Always know you are loved, and prayed for from near and far.
In Jesus all the time,
Me...
