// Pint-Sized Prodigy Becomes Gospel Sensation
Although young, 8-year old Rhema Marvanne is nothing short of inspiring as she prepares to sing the song “Amazing Grace” at a service marking the 2009 shooting at Fort Hood. Rhema’s father, Teton Marvanne, commented that he used to tell others she was tone deaf. But since the death of his wife, Rhema, who wanted to sing like her mother, miraculously received the gift of singing. Rhema desires to share the message of the Gospel through her music. New York Post reported that George W. Bush’s pro-life stance was solidified as a teenager after his mother suffered a miscarriage and showed him the fetus in a jar. Bush was a teenager at that time, but explained in an interview with Matt Lauer, that the event strengthened his belief in the respect for all life. For this upcoming holiday season, several atheist groups will be campaigning for atheism, hoping to target the 15% of American adults who have claimed that they have no religion (according to the American Religious Identification Survey). These groups will be spending tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars in hopes to also reach “liberal believers.” Some of these ads will feature familiar faces alongside quoted Bible text. // Haiti can't seem to catch a break
As many as 20 lives were taken by Hurricane Tomas even though the storm sidestepped Haiti last weekend. Unfortunately, a cholera epidemic has been sweeping through Haiti as well. The disease has taken the lives of 450 individuals, and left over 7,000 hospitalized. Rob Baker, Baptist Haiti Mission, explains that though it is a setback, "[Tomas] has opened the opportunity to present the Gospel, and many people seem to be more receptive to the Gospel now and turning to Christ.” Original article.

// Faith Groups Differ Over Mosque Near Ground Zero
A poll shows that half of all Protestants prefer the Islamic center planned near Ground Zero to change locations. It is a reflection of many Americans’ belief that the Islamic center represents the religion that the 9/11 terrorist acts were committed. The poll also noted that 30% of Muslims surveyed “were most likely among the faith groups to say the center should be changed to an interfaith institution.” Original article.
