In partnership with the Junky Car Club, JustOne, Catalyst, Ethur, Generate, ROOV, Plain Joe Studios, and the Camp, will be hosting the First Annual Junky Car Club Rally to address mobile homelessness on December 6th. (Click here for more info.)
Mobile homelessness is a reference to our street friends who live in vehicles because they are not able to get permanent housing. In preparation for the Junk Car Rally, a small group of my friends and I decided to put together the following video telling the story of one of our good friends Kathleen, who lives in a van with her 7 month old son Ezekiel and her dog Zodi.
Although the video is still fairly raw (some of the footage comes from Kathleen herself and her travels), I think it captures Kathleen's day to day efforts to provide for her family really well. I love how this video breaks some of the common stereotypes of those who considered "homeless" (This is a term that insufficiently describes our friends on the streets or in cars since some of these environments are their homes. They are houseless.)
Please take a moment to hear Kathleen's story and consider participating with us at the Junky Car Club to address mobile homelessness.
