NYKEC Youth Revival 2007
November 23-25 Thanksgiving Revival w/ Rev. Mangeni (Kenya, Africa) on Habukkuk 3:2 O LORD! Revive Our Generation! memo: i didn't understand what it meant when they said "i dare you to move." i knew it didn't mean literally move, but i didn't know what kind of move it meant either. the project fit just right with the revival theme "revive our generation" and XN@P body worship "revolution." "revolution" by kirk franklin intertwined with the project because his lyrics describe the corruption we live in: "sick and tired of my brothers killin' each other, sick and tired of daddies leavin' babies with their mothers.. no more racism, two-facism, no pollution, the solution? a revolution." kirk franklin asks, "do you want a revolution?" to change something in the people... we made signs that said "do you want a revolution," "i dare you to move," and "salvation is here." the video starts out in grayscale because it's about how we wanna go out there and make a difference. the lyrics say "welcome to the planet, welcome to existence. everyone's here, everybody's watching you now.." the girl is disregarded and not taken seriously for the most part, but later on we find people who really do want that revolution. the song changes to color when the chorus comes in with "i dare you to move." when it says "i dare you to lift yourself up off the floor," you see the girl being lifted up by satan, who falls when she's saved by the cross. it's followed by filmed prayers of NYKEC, and introduces the praise team and pastor mangeni of the revival (this video was still dedicated to the revival as well as showing a movement). i filmed people 'moving' to the literal sense, as a metaphor for the film to show that we wanna make a move for a good cause. "maybe redemption has stories to tell, maybe forgiveness is right where you fell. where can you run to escape from yourself, where are you gonna go?" shows NYKEC praying out for one another, for strength and salvation. "salvation is here." she tries to get everybody's attention. after this is where you see the change we want to make and promise. we are the church and the people of your community; we are your families and friends. this is the movement we're calling out for, this is the desire for a transformation in our lives. through the fellowship of the church, the pastors, the praise teams, the body worship, and the prayers, we're calling out for a revolution. it will change things, but we'll make the difference for the better. "welcome to existence, everybody's watching you now. the tension is here, between who you are and who you could be; between how it is and how it should be." the project ends to send out a message to you: do you want a revolution? because we dare you to move.
